Exhibit: I Was Made in Shapes - Teachers College Gottesman Libraries 2022

Working to find my own artistic style during the pandemic, I remembered something I said to my mother when I was a young girl:

“I see shapes.”

Inspired by this memory, I rendered my shapes—first through printmaking processes, then across other mediums—and found this work serendipitously giving life to certain kinds of visual symbols, marks, and themes, such as the symbol of the fish.

This exhibit includes a series of prints and paintings, as well as works produced in collaboration with community workshop participants at Teachers College.

As I discovered my own visual language, I was compelled to invite others in the community to discover the instrumentality of the printmaking process in facilitating one’s own search for self.
